WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR RABBITS?

Non breeding rabbits can eat a 12-13% protein pellet. Breeding rabbits need a 16-18% protein pellet. Not all pellets are created equal. Everything they need is in the pellet. In addition to pellets you can provide hay which is additional fiber and supplemental fats and minerals. You can also feed small amounts of fruits & vegetables but not too much.

DO YOUR RABBITS DIG THEIR WAY OUT OF THE RUNS?

The short answer is yes. We try to maintain our runs a couple times a week. Checking for digging. We fill in dirt holes a lot over the summer. The does dig more than the bucks. Not screening the bottom of the run is a love hate operation. We want our rabbits to be able to dig a cold hole when it’s hot and be rabbits but a couple times they have gotten out. They sit around confused for a while and then crawl back in the run to eat their lunch. Hole gets filled shortly after.

IS THERE A REASON YOU DON’T MAKE THE BOTTOM OF YOUR KINDLING TOTES WIRE?

We don’t get a lot of pee or manure in the kindling totes. They surprisingly stay pretty clean. We easily clean our totes once a month or when needed. We wipe it out and add fresh new straw and chips. Wood chips are cheap and one tote takes less than a bale of straw a year.
